Bin-bag (to be sung to the tune of Starman by David Bowie)
Didn’t know what time it was, street lights were glow-o-ing
There were humans that were coming and go-o-ing
Some cat was playing with frightened mouse, nearly dead he said
Then the humans did seem to retreat
I caught a smell of rotten, week old meat
I started drooling cos I remembered it’s bin night
There’s a bin bag, it’s tied up very neat
I’m going to tear it open,
Spill the rubbish ‘cross the street
There’s a bin bag, waiting just for me
It's my favourite night,
I’m going on a litter spree
Oh humans...
Let the foxes lose it
While you’re having snoozes
Let all the foxes go crazy
My mate Jimbo he heard it was bin night too
He trashed a driveway then covered it in fox poo
I told him Jimbo don’t you let those humans spot you
Look at their windows you can see their lights
If you wake them they can really uptight
He wouldn’t listen cos he was crazy for bin night
There’s a bin bag, it’s tied up very neat
I’m going to tear it open,
Spill the rubbish ‘cross the street
There’s a bin bag, waiting just for me
It's my favourite night,
I’m going on a litter spree
Oh humans...
Let the foxes lose it
While you’re having snoozes
Let all the foxes go crazy
I’m a freelance writer. My first children’s story The Problem with Mr Woolf – a twisted take on Little Red Riding Hood - was published by Bloomsbury in July 2018 in their anthology Once Upon a Fairytale: The Stories You Were Never Told. When not being a bad influence on children, you’ll find me blogging on Coronation Street, history, urban foxes and quite a lot in between.
